Ruff

Ever since the holiday season there has been a common theme around our home. Namely of the canine persuasion.

First the decision a furry friend. Immediately followed by the trail and error period which led to the contemplation that perhaps we're more cat people than dog people. I even sat in on a panel with the people behind the upcoming show on PBS called "Why We Love Cats and Dogs" where I actually asked for their help in the matter. They were very gracious. By the way, I cannot wait to see that show! A day or two later coincidentally began the dog sitting days. Believe me when I tell you if nothing else, dogs give you one more perfect subject for a 365 project. Then, today we topped it all off with an afternoon at the movies seeing Hotel for Dogs. Things are getting ridiculous, I know. By the way, it's a darling movie!

After all of this, we still don't have our family pet question answered (except of course that we know fish are cool) and and truth be told I'm OK with it not being decided just now. We're just going to sit with it. It's always fun when the puns come easy.

So, why the long drawn-out story then? No reason at all except to preface My Best Shot Monday offering today.

This shot was taken on the pup's last morning with us waiting for his true mommy (my mom-in-law) to come get him. I call it 'the final stretch'.

How about you? Share the story of your Best Shot.

What a cutie! I have to admit, there is a definite difference between having dogs and having cats...but both sure are fun! And you're right, pets certainly provide excellent photo ops for Project 365!

My best shot takes a closer look at things...

We love our dog around here! I think I'd venture to say we're more dog people than cat people.

Great pictures.

I had the honor of doing a maternity shoot with a friend of mine yesterday. My best shots are of a little bundle of joy to come.

We are on the edge of jumping into puppy-dom as well. But we have 2 cats that are really a part of our family. I think we need to wait, the girls think we need to get a dog. Since I'll be doing the bulk of the work, guess who is winning the battle so far?

I love the first photo - and stretch!

There is not a story with my BSM today - just soaking in the sun Piggys and Toes.

I was a cat person, but my husband was a dog person, so we compromised and got a dog, LOL.

But my best shot this week is about one of our human "pets."

It is such a hard decision to get a dog in the family....but what a great subject. They are always doing something to capture.

Here's my BSM.

I remember reading about your Christmas morning dogcapes. Glad the sweetie has found home, and you're comfy sitting :)
LOVE his sweet neck all stretched out. That's a classic dog pose from a totally cool new angle...how often does that happen? Well done!

So cool. We're in the same stage as well. We have a cat, but we're thinking that eventually we'll get a dog as well. You know, for the kids!

Here is my BSM. Finally, some snow! I don't know why we bother to live in a cold climate that never gets snow.

I love dog shots - they can be such clowns.

We are going through that same problem as you did with your "trial and error" We have had this dog for a while and as he gets older he gets more and more agressive. Finding the perfect pet is definitely a hard one! My favorite are actually my chickens! Easy to care for ...and they produce eggs! How great is that!

We have been so lucky with out pets. I know it can be so hard especially when little ones are involved. I am sure the right furry friend will come along at the right time.

It's cold and windy here...but bright and sunny. We have had 30 to 40 mile / hour north winds for the last several days with gusts to 65 mph.

Here's my best shot of the day.

My 1st Best Shot Monday Post is of my 83 year old aunt who performed on the trapeze Friday night. When she was young she left the NYC ballet to join the Barnum & Bailey circus. She was the first woman to be lifted up in an elephant trunk, and she has many, many more tales that are currently being compiled into a biography. Returning to circus performing in the last three years is just the latest chapter in a very exciting life.
