My Meandering Best Shot

As we head into what is the last official week of summer vacation, I have been busy tying up loose ends. Getting rooms sorted and cleaned to give the kids a fresh start when school begins (an end of summer ritual around here), frantically finishing up household projects that didn't get get done, squeezing in a few more family excursions and getting the family reunion photos uploaded to share with the family that have been patiently waiting for weeks now.
My best shot above is one from our trip in June. I am reminded of the beauty of the countryside where we drove and drove and took in the vast landscapes; where we were happy to be plucked from our normal daily life and looked forward to the endless possibilities that school-free days and sunshine offer.

I will admit however now, that it's images like these that make me long for simplicity when our routine is back in full swing and I have a little peace and quiet all to myself.

What sorts of stirrings are within your head and heart today?

That is such a peaceful looking shot. And I'm sure that it will be so nice to look back on when you're in the thick of a busy school year!

My best shot certainly pulled at my heart strings.

I agree with Maggie... there is something peaceful about the tall grasses... so long summer.

so serene. I'd love to lay in tall grass where nobody could find me.
Gorgeous.

My best shot reminds me a lot of myself when I was that age (minus the phone)

What a lovely shot. We have years before school starts around here, but I still feel that quickening of pace that happens every fall.

Here's mine.

Your end of summer ritual sounds wonderful! I love your pick of picture and I'd love to be on a porch, drinking some iced tea...gazing out at the whispering grasses~

Your picture stirs simplicity within the soul. We all need an image like that to ground us when life spins out of control.

No peacefulness here...too many teens in the house for that! The photo I'm sharing is not technically fantastic, but it did bring a laugh when I downloaded it. And if you'd care to scroll down to the next post, you will see just how bored we were this weekend!

Mine is up and after my Monday morning I went for some horns from a visit to the zoo.

That's beautiful, Tracey. I'm all for simplicity in theory but can't seem to make it a reality practically. Thanks for the inspiration, though!

I love this shot. It's surreal even.

For me, I've had three extra boys in my house as I've been watching them for a friend. It's not easy and I can definitely say that we won't be having seven children!

I coupled 100 Words with my Best Shot for a funny!
